- Abstract:
-
Cough is a common and frequently - occurring disease of respiratory tract, which has been paid attention to by physicians in past dynasties. Yu Chang, a famous physician in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties, in his book Precepts for Physicians, analogized the evil of heat, dampness and fire with cold in shape and cold in internal and external, expanded the etiology, pathogenesis and treatment of cough, and put forward that disharmony of sovereign fire and ministerial fire leads to excess lung fire and the treatment should be clearing the lung fire, correcting the mistake that “ autumn injury in dampness” is “ autumn injury in dryness” in Internal Classic, and is the first to put forward the idea of “ dry qi impairing lung” and create Qingzao Jiufei Decoction. The differentiation and treatment of cough have been systematically discussed, reflecting Yu’s unique theory and academic thought of cough treatment. This article mainly summarizes and nalyses Yu’s thought of differentiating and treating cough from the aspects of internal and external pathogenic factors, sovereign fire and ministerial fire, autumn dryness injuring lung, phlegm - yin - fu lung and so on, with a view to providing eference and inspiration for modern clinical treatment of cough.
