Professor Liu Maocai, a famous TCM doctor, is good at taking the combination of Chinese and Westernmedicine to treat diseases such as stroke, dementia, epilepsy, insomnia and dizziness. In particular, the treatment of ischemic stroke pays attention to both manifestation and root cause, grasps the spleen and kidney deficiency - based, thevirtual wind internal movement, phlegm and blood stasis as the standard pathogenesis characteristics, so, invigorating qiand spleen, replenishing kidney and filling essence to treat its root and calming endogenous wind, dissipating phlegm andpromoting blood circulation to treat its manifestation. On this basis, Professor Liu pays more attention to physical andmental treatment, and constantly strengthens the psychological counseling of patients to promote their early recovery. Forhemorrhagic stroke, Professor Liu refers to the view of “ abnormal flow of blood is blood stasis” in The Yellow Emperor’ sInner Classic and Treatise on Blood Syndromes, and makes an unique approach, emphasizing the early use of blood - activating and stasis - dispersing drugs to treat cerebral hemorrhage, which is good for reducing complications and promotingthe recovery of patients. In the use of drugs, Professor Liu advocates a mild approach, and does not advocate the use oftoo many “ hegemonic” drugs to avoid toxic side effects.
