Excavated in 1972, the Han tombs in Mawangdui in Changsha,Hunan Province, has attracted great attention from he historical, archaeological and medical circles since its early excavation. The female body of the No. 1 tomb, known as the " Oriental Sleeping Beauty",was preserved intact and archaeologically identified as the wife of the Prime Minister Li Cang of Changsha,Madame Xin Zhui. Then,in addition to the deep burial and sealing method, and the absence of a major earthquake in Changsha for more than two thousand years, what is the reason for this thousand - year - old female corpse to be completely preserved? This article will answer this question from the perspective of Chinese
medicine. The article mainly combs the significance of medical classics from Han tombs in Mawangdui and Chinese herbal medicine from the historical development and clinical practice of traditional Chinese medicine, and then combines the
medical literature unearthed from Mawangdui to explore the profound historical significance of Chinese traditional medicine
culture. This is a great impetus for the promotion of Chinese medicine culture and the continued promotion of Chinese
medicine culture in order to carry forward the profound Chinese medicine culture and the irreplaceable role of traditional
Chinese medicine in the history of our country.
