- Abstract:

To investigate the difference of total flavonoids and puerarin in pueraria lobata from Hunan, Shaanxi,Hubei and Shanxi,so as to lay a scientific foundation for resource optimization and rational use. Method: The content of total flavonoids in pueraria lobata was determined by UV - vis spectrophotometry,and the content of puerarin in pueraria lobata was determined by HPLC. Result: The total flavonoids in pueraria lobata from four areas of Hunan, Shaanxi,Hubei and Shanxi were 6. 13% ,7. 24% ,14. 33% and 13. 71% ,respectively. The contents of puerarin in pu- eraria lobata were 2. 13% ,2. 82% ,5. 61% and 4. 76% ,respectively. Conclusion: The contents of total flavonoids and puerarin in pueraria lobata in four producing areas of Hunan,Shaanxi,Hubei,and Shanxi were quite different,high con- tent of total flavonoids corresponds to high puerarin. It is feasible to use total flavonoids and puerarin as indexes for evalua- tion of pueraria lobata. The pueraria lobata in Hubei is the best,followed by Shanxi,Shaanxi and Hunan. It provides a scientific reference for rational use and resource evaluation of medicinal materials.
